Membership

There is a range of options in place, designed to allow the club to communicate effectively with all members (adult and junior) while also allowing members to participate in as many sports as they wish.
Step 1: Become a Club Member

In order to participate in any sport, or simply use the clubhouse and attend events, everyone has to be a Club Member (£35 pa).

All Juniors (under 18 years) must be represented by a parent or guardian who is a Club Member.

Step 2: Select any sports you wish to play

Once you have joined as a Club Member you are then able to select sports you wish to play (or not).

All Sports subscriptions

For those playing more than one sport, an All Sports subscription might well be the best way forward. A convenient, monthly payment that means your membership could not be easier to manage.

Membership FAQs

Senior (18+ years old)
Adult members inevitably comprise the core membership and the club aims to provide excellent facilities, a vibrant clubhouse and an inclusive, supportive atmosphere.

Student (those at university, college or on apprenticeship schemes)
Those with reduced income and/or living away from home enjoy a reduced rate. We want to keep the club available for local players but recognise they cannot always commit to full availability.

Junior (6 to 18 years of age)
Enthusiastic and committed Juniors who can enjoy the club facilities alongside school sports, hopefully transitioning into Senior members of the future.

Bambino (under 6 years old)
It’s never too early to start youngsters on a sporting path, and we aim to make it as easy as possible.

All membership is now managed via the Marden Sports Club app, or online here. Search in your app store, download the app, then register and you’re away. Any queries: [email protected]

The club recognises the huge importance of sport and its wider social benefits and aims to be as inclusive as possible. We offer reduced rates for those with low income and these are considered on a case by case basis.

Reduced rate memberships are means-tested and are granted at the discretion of the committee. Applications should be made initially to [email protected] after which the case will be progressed by the committee. All applications for assistance are treated in the strictest confidence.

Once you have become a member of Marden Sports Club, a membership card will be available for you to collect from behind the bar within a few weeks. This is your proof of membership.

It is a licensing rule that anyone served at the bar is a paid-up Club Member (or the guest of a member under the recognised conditions). The only exception to this rule is visiting teams and their spectators.

Members of staff and club officers may ask to see your card before you are served at the bar or use the facilities. Please oblige without taking offence – we are a members-only club and are obliged to enforce the rules.

Flexible payment terms are available if required, with monthly instalments spread across the sports season and payable by direct debit. In these cases, the full annual club membership fee is always payable. Details can be found within the terms of your contract on the membership system.

The first answer is it’s not just about the match tea! Nor is it merely the cost of a ball.

Costs vary across all sports but can include umpires, pitch preparation, floodlighting, even the cost of closing off courts to other users. And, yes, teas and balls.

We have simplified the rates across all the sports, so there is more consistency. This makes it easier for captains to collect too of course. Match tax (paid per match played) can be paid directly to your captain, or conveniently via the membership system.

With a system of club membership we can communicate with everyone effectively, whether they play a sport or not. This is important for various purposes: sporting news and club events, renewals, health and safety issues and general correspondence. It also means that, via the membership system, we have full records for the purpose of financial management, tax, insurance and charitable status.

All Juniors must be represented by a parent or guardian who is a Club Member. This enables the parent/guardian to enjoy the clubhouse facilities whenever they are open and also provides the Club with a point of communication with an adult who has agreed to the Club Rules and Conditions. This allows the Club proper governance of the child for sporting activities and while on the premises.
